Prime Minister Carney Meets with Politics Students from Nepean’s Longfields-Davidson Heights Secondary School

Prime Minister Mark Carney welcomed Grade 12 students from Nepean's Longfields-Davdison Heights Secondary School on Parliament Hill as part of their Social Studies program.

The students from the school's Canadian Politics class attended Question Period, toured various parts of Parliament Hill, and had an engaging conversation with the Prime Minister about Canada's current political climate, opportunities and challenges facing the country, their future career plans, and the National Capital Region.

The visit provided students with an opportunity to learn firsthand about Canada's democratic institutions and the role Parliament plays in shaping public policy. During their time on the Hill, students asked insightful questions on a range of issues affecting Canadians today.

"Your thoughtful questions are a reminder that Canada's future is bright," said Prime Minister Carney. "Our next generation is engaged, informed, and ready to build a stronger Canada."

The visit reflected many of the themes explored in Ontario's Grade 12 Social Studies curriculum, which encourages students to examine issues such as human rights, environmental sustainability, globalisation, economic development, and civic engagement. Through inquiry-based learning and critical analysis, this visit allowed students to better understand how government policies, historical events, and international developments shape the world around them.

Prime Minister Carney thanked the students and educators for their visit and wished the graduating class continued success as they prepare for the next chapter of their academic and professional journeys.
