Mrs. Fox Carney Plays with the Nepean Nighthawks Field Hockey Club at their 16th Annual Tournament

Mrs. Diana Fox Carney attended the Nepean Nighthawks Field Hockey Club's 16th Annual Tournament at the Minto Field at the Nepean Sportsplex in celebration of sport and youth development that brought together athletes, families, coaches, and volunteers from across the region.

During her visit, Mrs. Fox Carney presented a special letter from Prime Minister Mark Carney recognising the tournament's 16th edition and acknowledging the remarkable contributions of the Nepean Nighthawks in providing accessible and inclusive field hockey programming for athletes of all ages and backgrounds, particularly Indigenous youth, in Ottawa.

Mrs. Fox Carney also met with the club's co-founders, Maureen Chopra, a former member of Canada's Women's National Team and recipient of Field Hockey Canada's 2021 Grassroots Coach of the Year Award, and Sandeep Chopra, a member of Canada's Men's Masters team and a coach with more than four decades of experience. Their discussion focused on the club's growth since its founding in 2002, its impact on youth development, and its vision for the future through the Field Hockey Centre project in Nepean.

A highlight of the visit was Madame Fox Carney's time on the field with members of the Nighthawks junior program. She joined young athletes for a friendly session, playing alongside members of the club's junior girls' and boys' teams.
