Mrs. Fox Carney Celebrates Grand Opening of New Affordable Housing Development in Nepean

On May 27, 2026, Diana Fox Carney attended the grand opening of 20 Dunbar Court, a new affordable housing development in Nepean that will provide 31 new homes for local residents in need of housing support.

During the event, Mrs. Fox Carney presented a special letter on behalf of Prime Minister Mark Carney, recognising the Nepean Housing Corporation (NHC) Board of Directors, staff, partners, and supporters for their longstanding commitment to expanding affordable housing opportunities for low-income residents in the community.

In his message, the Prime Minister thanked the organisation for its leadership in addressing housing needs in Nepean and highlighted the important role that community-based housing providers play in helping build a stronger Canada where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

Developed by the Nepean Housing Corporation, the innovative three-storey apartment building expands the organisation's existing portfolio of 42 affordable townhomes through the addition of 31 new homes and represents a significant investment in building stronger, more inclusive communities. Constructed to passive house standards, the development offers residents comfortable, energy-efficient, and affordable homes to Nepean's newest residents while contributing to a more sustainable future.

NHC president Laurene Wagner mentioned how the project was made possible through funding from multiple levels of government and through collaboration between community partners, demonstrating what can be achieved when organisations work together to address local housing challenges.

The Government of Canada remains committed to increasing housing supply, supporting affordable housing initiatives, and ensuring more Canadians have access to safe and affordable places to call home.
