Prime Minister Mark Carney’s Constituency Office recently hosted a community tax clinic in his riding of Nepean, providing free, accessible tax support to local constituents. Over the course of the clinic, nearly 200 individuals received assistance in preparing and filing their income tax returns, ensuring they could access the benefits and credits they are entitled to.
The initiative was supported through collaboration with Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) Ontario, whose volunteer delegation assisted constituents with tax‑related questions and filings, and the South Nepean Muslim Community (SNMC) Centre, which provided its gymnasium at no cost to host the clinic. Volunteers from both organizations contributed their time and expertise to support residents during the tax season.
The clinic aligns with the objectives of Budget 2025, which has received Royal Assent and includes $5.5 million in funding to support community‑based financial literacy and tax assistance initiatives. By assisting residents in accessing these programs and identifying eligible tax credits, the clinic supported efforts to improve access to available government supports and contribute to financial stability within the Nepean community.
