Mrs. Carney Celebrates Pongal Vizha in Nepean

Prime Minister Mark Carney’s wife, Mrs. Diana Fox Carney, joined the Honourable Mr. Gary Anandasangaree, Minister of Public Safety of Canada, and several Ottawa-based Canadian Tamil organizations in the Pongal Vizha celebrations at Longfields-Davidson Heights Secondary School in Nepean.

With over 2,000 attendees attending the event, Mrs. Carney joined the event hosted by the National Capital Region Tamil Association (NCRTA), the Ottawa Tamil Seniors Association (OTSA), and Canada Muththamizch Sangkam. She engaged with community members, participated in the celebrations, and delivered a keynote speech recognizing the contributions of the Tamil community in Nepean and across Canada and the importance of preserving culture, traditions, and intergenerational connections within Canada multicultural society.

The event brought together families, community leaders, and cultural organizations to honour Thai Pongal, celebrate Tamil Heritage Month, and recognize the rich contributions of the Tamil community in Nepean and across Canada.

Prime Minister Mark Carney also extended his warm wishes for Thai Pongal to the Tamil community in Nepean and across Canada. He expressed his gratitude for the Tamil community’s continued support, leadership, and achievements, noting that their contributions have greatly enriched the country and strengthened Canada’s multicultural fabric in honour of Tamil Heritage Month.
