Prime Minister Carney’s Constituency Office Hosts Lunar New Year Celebration in Nepean at the Walter Baker Sports Centre

The Constituency Office of the Rt. Hon. Mark Carney, in collaboration with numerous organisations from the Ottawa Chinese community, hosted a Lunar New Year celebration in Nepean, welcoming over 200 residents to the Walter Baker Sports Centre for an afternoon of festivities, marking a new chapter in Canada–China relations and community connection.

Alongside the offices of Tyler Watt, Member of Provincial Parliament for Nepean; Mark Sutcliffe, Mayor of Ottawa; Wilson Lo Councillor for Ward 24, Barrhaven East; and David Hill, Councillor for Ward 3, Barrhaven West, the Prime Minister's Constituency Office participated in a day of performances, trivia, and reflections on the contributions of the Ottawa Chinese School and the larger Chinese Canadian community in Nepean over the past several decades.

The Prime Minister’s Constituency Office also distributed over 200 red pocket envelopes, each including a special letter from the Prime Minister, the office's merchandise and other items celebrating Chinese and Canadian heritage.

Through this event, the Prime Minister’s Constituency Office reaffirmed its commitment to recognizing and uplifting the diverse communities that call Nepean home, and to building a welcoming and inclusive community where all residents feel represented and celebrated.
